The National Assembly of Venezuela approved on Wednesday the immunity of the Chavista deputy Julio César Torres Molina, accused of alleged Linking with drug trafficking.
“I am going to ask the plenary of the National Assembly to unanimously vote the raid of the parliamentary immunity of this garbage,” said the president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.
He warned that anyone who “betray” the interests of the Venezuelan people and “the confidence that the people gave to vote for him will have the same destiny as this spleen, the prison.”
The Chavista deputy William Benavides He informed that the authorities arrested Torres Molina “in flagrance” for “drug possession”, without specifying the quantity, type of substances or the capture date.
Benavides said that historically revolutionary organizations have faced attempts for infiltration and demoralization.
“Right now the American Empire recessed its position and psychological operations, but everything that is linked to drug trafficking, drugs, is doing the game to the enemy, is making the game to those who want to destroy us,” he said.
He added that Torres had received “several observations” for “his behavior.”
He stressed that the opposition block of the National Assembly supported the measure and voted in favor of lifting the immunity of Torres Molina.
