They were racing illegally on motorcycles after leaving school in Higüey; Digesett arrests them

Hacían carreras ilegales en motocicletas luego luego de salir de clases en Higüey; Digesett los detiene

Following complaints made by residents of Club Rotatorio Avenue in the municipality of Higüey, the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (DIGESETT) arrested two students who were engaged in clandestine races during school hours.

The students took advantage of the time when they were leaving the Geraldo Jansen Secondary School to carry out the clandestine race and calibrate the motorcycles they were using in this illegal act. During the operation, three motorcycles were detained and two minors were arrested, while the other student fled when he saw the presence of the agents.

The director of DIGESETT, General Francisco Osoria De La Cruz, PN, instructed the regional director of the La Altagracia unit, Colonel Santo E. García Moreta, PN, to maintain greater surveillance at the exits of the educational centers in the area to prevent further clandestine races from taking place during school hours.

He also urged parents and guardians to be aware of the activities their children do after school, to prevent them from falling into criminal or dangerous behavior such as illegal racing.

DIGESETT reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens, promoting respect for traffic regulations and fostering a responsible road culture.
