A 13-year-old girl and her 11-year-old brother were found dead. this morning by tactical divers, firefighters and police personnel who had deployed a search operation since yesterday afternoon, when both had entered a stream in Entre Ríos and had not been seen again, official sources reported.
The brothers had disappeared yesterday around 6:15 p.m. in the “Las Conchas” stream, about 1,000 meters from the “La Picada” Bridge, at kilometer 461 of National Route 12 and about 22 kilometers from the city of Paraná.
According to the statements of the relatives, all natives of the provincial capital, both they entered the waters of the stream to cool off from the high temperatures, but they disappeared out of sight within a few minutes.
Immediately, personnel from the police station in the town of La Picada began a search in the area until around midnight, with “poor visibility and torrential rain,” they explained from the force.
Meanwhile, the search was resumed this morning with the participation of tactical divers, Sapper Firefighters, specialized police personnel and the Police Trained Infantry Guard (GIA).
Between 8:30 and 9 a.m. this Monday, specialized divers found the bodies of both minors a few meters from the site. of the accident, for which the prosecutor on duty ordered the transfer to the Oro Verde Morgue for the corresponding autopsy.
The police chief of the department of Paraná, Raúl Menescardi, indicated that the entrance to the stream “is very shallow” but that, “a few meters away, there are wells up to 7 meters deep”.
For this reason, he assured, they carried out the search “with great responsibility and awareness, and with suitable personnel so that another accident does not occur.”
“Last night the water was calm but, with the important rain, there was movement, although there is no strong current,” he completed in journalistic statements.
