The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) highlighted in June that at least 3,200 children under the age of five were diagnosed with acute malnutrition in Venezuela in the first four months of the year. EFE.
According to OCHA, the high cost of medicines and nutritional supplies reduces the response capacity of organizations on the ground. This limits the scope of community management of cases of acute malnutrition, some of which lead to the public health network for management and treatment.
According to Caritas Venezuela 40% of children under two years of age have acute malnutrition, moderate or severe. The movement has warned that some of the irreparable damage to children with malnutrition is low height and weight for their age and, in later years, others such as difficulty performing in studies.
