Colombia will hold legislative elections on March 8, 2026 and the first round of the presidentials will be May 31.
“Our concern is, mainly, in areas where there are public order problems, that is, where there is coca production and cultivation,” Said Interior Minister Armando Benedetti, after a meeting with his defense colleague, Pedro Sánchez Suárez; the military and police dome, and the entities responsible for the country’s electoral organization.
Benedetti explained that the areas of greatest concern are the Catatumbo region, in the department of Norte de Santander, and the peoples of López de Micay and El Silver, in Cauca.
