The country remained for several consecutive weeks with a downward trend in cases of coronaviruseven had days when no deaths were reported in some areas, figures that had not been seen since the beginning of the pandemic.
However, with the arrival of cold days, the risk of contracting any type of respiratory illness increases, including COVID-19so the authorities insist that it is essential to be vaccinated against coronavirus.
Given the increase in cases of coronavirus, the infectologist and presidential adviser, Hugo Pizzi, warned that with the arrival of low temperatures, concern about a new peak increases.
“It is a great concern, because when the temperatures begin to drop, the windows are closed, people get crowded in the rooms and there the upper airways catch any microorganism that is there.”
For this reason, the infectologist insists that it is necessary for all citizens to be vaccinated and receive reinforcement, as appropriate, since this avoids the risk of contagion.
In addition, it is also important that people receive the flu vaccine, since there has also been an increase in cases of this pathology in recent weeks.
“The ideal would be to be vaccinated with three doses against COVID and also the flu. With that and the chinstrap you are going to have a good winter,” the presidential adviser assured in radio statements.
As for the cases, the Ministry of Health pointed out that in the country the infections rose again last week (April 24 to 30) compared to the previous one, although very slightly.
Pizzi warned that coronavirus vaccines are about to be lost
The infectologist also denounced that the vaccines are about to expire, some have even been lost, because people have stopped getting vaccinated, since everything seems to indicate that the pandemic was overcome, but it is not.
This is due to the fact that the Government has made various health measures more flexible, after the cases decreased; however, the risk remains latent, more so due to the circulation of new variants.
