They warn about a new Abdo-Cartista pact

The Chamber of Senators approved in an extraordinary session, the bill “that creates a stabilization fund.” It consists of a new US$100 million loan to subsidize fuel imports (type 3 diesel and virgin naphtha). It will benefit six emblems from the private sector, however, according to calculations by legislators, the subsidies will only last one month.

PLRA
Eusebio Ayala, a national senator from the liberal party (PLRA), pointed out that it is a project that had already been postponed because the other law on subsidies for Petropar came out. But that, however, came to the surface with great haste in the last hours.

“This is another project that was revived, it implies some US$ 100 million of new loans, at what conditions, rates and terms are unknown. The project implies that the Executive can negotiate according to what it deems convenient without going through Congress. We are going to make subsidies by borrowing even more without reducing expenses, without reforming the State, without saving unnecessary expenses”, he questioned.

He pointed out that this gives rise to more sectors requesting subsidies.

“Who is going to control? It is not about vulnerable sectors to give subsidies for a short time, to a specific sector”, she questioned.

GUASU FRONT
Jorge Querey, national senator for the Guasu Front, pointed out that this bill came by order of Abdo after a new agreement with Cartes and the private emblems.

“It is not just the price stabilization guarantee fund. A credit of US$ 100 million is approved that will subsidize all private emblems. In addition, Petropar’s hands are tied so that it resorts to intermediaries again, which means more expensive fuels”, he warned.

The senator criticized that the State has participated in the change in the price of fuel. This means that there is no pricing structure to justify. In addition, there is no sign that the price of oil will stabilize in the medium term.

“I think this is actually part of a pact between Cartes and Abdo. Not even yesterday (for Monday), the Minister of Finance had these plans. There was a high-level agreement to order some parliamentarians,” he stated.

Finally, he stressed that this measure does not pose an alternative in the medium term if the price of barrels does not fall naturally.

ARRUA
Georgia Arrúa, a national senator for the Patria Querida party (PPQ), said that she is ashamed of the actions of her colleagues.

“It is inexplicable to me that the Executive promotes and from the Senate finds people who support it. Yesterday in a meeting with the MIC and the Treasury, the Vice Minister of Finance clearly said that, according to the calculation for the estimate for the subsidies, it cannot be specified, without foreseeing what will happen next. This will be useless without looking for other types of solutions”, he expressed.

He pointed out that, in the absence of the cost structure, other alternatives could have been proposed.

“This is absolutely temporary, it is useless. It is obvious that some colleagues from the opposition gave the quorum, thus ending up supporting this initiative.

“Other sectors are likely to ask for subsidies. You will see complaints from other sectors. Here five to six companies are being subsidized. It is not something that is subsidized for people. They are not even able to show us how much their earnings are, ”he concluded.
