Exhortan a la población a acudir a vacunarse contra la influenza

Santo Domingo.- One day after the influenza vaccination day begins, representatives of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) invite the population to take the drug that counteracts the disease to prevent serious infections.

The entity is applying the biological in Primary Care Centers and in units enabled at various points; to the older adults, pregnant women, elderly people and people with any comorbidity, because they are the ones most likely to contract an infection that could threaten their lives.

Additionally, they are administering the serum to the health professionals because they are exposed to the disease.

One of the available positions in the National District is outside the children’s hospital doctor José Manuel Rodríguez Jiménez, former Santo Socorro, where after 12:00 noon this Wednesday they had only been vaccinated 20 people.

“As the promotion is carried out, the process will increase,” said nurse Ireland Cuello, in charge of the vaccination unit available at the healthcare center.

The health professional recalled that the vaccine is important, because it strengthens the immune system to combat influenza, which with the seasonal change increases its incidence level.

“We hope that they come en masse to get the vaccine so that they can protect themselves from this flu,” he urged.

Nurse Geovanny García, in charge of the vaccination post enabled at the parking of the National Needle Industry (Inaguja), He also urged citizens to apply the biological so that they can combat a possible contagion of the virus.

“We urge the population to get vaccinated so that this flu does not hit so hard,” said García.

After 1:00 in the afternoon, only 10 people to get vaccinated, all older adults.

Namely

For this year the Ministry of Public Health has 533 thousand 140 doses of the influenza vaccine, 71 thousand more than last year, and of those 194 thousand 140, they will be applied to children from six to 35 months.

For Dr. Aida Lucía Vargas, head of the Directorate of Immunopreventable Vaccines (DIV), vaccination against seasonal influenza is the best tool to prevent serious complications of the virus, especially in older adults, children under three years of age, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and health personnel.

“Our goal is to avoid an increase in hospitalizations and respiratory complications through early vaccination of priority groups,” he explained.

Influenza is a contagious respiratory disease that infects the nose, throat and in some cases the lungs. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this virus can cause a mild or severe contagion and sometimes can lead to death, so it is important to get vaccinated every year to prevent it.
