A monument in honor of the Public Force units, who lost their lives in the line of duty, due to the covid-19 pandemic, was unveiled this Thursday, September 15, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security (Minseg). ).
The monument, located in the central square in front of the main entrance of the Minseg, is a work full of patriotic symbolism, made up of a monolith covered in granite, on which the logos of the country’s security forces are engraved, and the names of the men and women who died from the deadly disease.
In the presence of relatives of the victims of the Public Force who died as a result of covid-19, the Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, highlighted the firm commitment that the units of the Public Force have maintained since the day the pandemic was declared. in the country, until now working tirelessly to support each of the actions to prevent the spread and contagion of the disease in the citizenry, as well as the support in the PanaVac campaign, to immunize the country’s population against the disease.
Pino indicated that the road has not been easy throughout all this time in which we have had to live together and face a pandemic that disrupted the nucleus of uniformed families, mainly those who lost a loved one, a member of the Public Force.
As a symbol of respect, there are five sculptures in a salute position, representing the security forces. A bronze bell is located in front of the monolith, where the logos of each of the components of the Public Force of Panama are found; It is a symbol of deep respect and a way of saying goodbye to these heroes of the country, eternally honoring their dedication and sacrifice for the citizens.
