The Government reported this Monday that it will deploy more than 44,000 people in the Christmas and New Year operation that it will mount to prevent accidents and respond to any emergency involving citizens who will travel to different parts of the country to spend the holidays with their families.

The road safety and prevention device will cover the main roads and highways of the national territory, to prevent traffic accidents, poisoning due to alcohol or food consumption.

Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), made the announcement at a press conference.

The operation, which will cover the entire country, is with the purpose of avoiding accidents during the Christmas and New Year holidays

The official specified that the operation “Awareness for Life, Christmas New Year 2022-2023” will begin on Friday, the 23rd of this month, at 2:00 p.m. and will end on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

On the occasion of the New Year, the operation begins on the 30th of this month and ends on January 1, 2023.

Participants

The organization will deploy 44,321 people, members of some 20 official institutions that make up the COE, among which the Ministries of Interior and Police, Public Health, Public Works, Defense and Administration of the Presidency stand out.

Also, they integrate EOC the Social Plan of the Presidency, the Civil Defense, the National Police, the Dominican Red Cross, the fire departments, the Metropolitan Bus Office (OMSA), the Economic Canteens, the Essential Medicines Program (Promise) and other entities.

Likewise, the installation of 1,243 assistance posts was arranged, located at strategic points, where the greatest number of incidents has been detected, in previous operations.

They will also distribute 197 ambulances, five vehicular extraction trucks, 71 vehicular rescue units, 19 mobile workshops and three helicopters that were ordered by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa.

In this context, the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) reported that it ordered measures to regulate the circulation of cargo vehicles in the national territory, from Friday, December 23, from 6:00 in the morning, until Monday at 5:00 in the morning.

Méndez García asked citizens to respect the security measures ordered by the authorities.

“At this time we celebrate the birth of Jesus and it is the right time to reflect on our actions and promote family unity and values ​​such as collaboration, responsibility and delivery,” the official stressed.
