The Public Prosecutor’s Office went to the Gualaca area to collect material to identify who the victims are and what countries they came from.
The authorities indicated that they are already working on the identification of the victims of the traffic accident, after collecting 37 pieces of evidence at the scene.
Senior Prosecutor Melissa Navarro explained, in a press conference, that these indications will be analyzed by personnel from the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.
He revealed that the Chiriquí Regional Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation for crimes against life and personal integrity, after this accident. “Our personnel remain in the area collecting evidence,” he said.
So far, the authorities have revealed that the number of deaths increased to 40, of the 66 passengers carried by the bus 5B-54 on the Darién-Panama route, one of them is Panamanian and was one of the drivers of the vehicle.
