They tried to burn an LGBTI person alive inside a police station in Medellín

Attack in Altavista cells left one person with serious burns, authorities investigate and transfer the inmates involved.

What started as a fight in the passage cells of the Altavista Police Stationthe past almost ended in a fatal tragedy Friday January 2.

According to preliminary information about the incident, a group of inmates had caused a structural fire in order to attack the integrity of a person belonging to the LGBTIQ+ population.

The victim, nicknamed ‘Cataleya’apparently he was resting with another colleague when the cell was engulfed in flames. In the midst of the chaos and smoke, this person tried to evacuate, but was intercepted by other prisoners. According to preliminary investigations, the attackers threw hot oil and, later, they tried to set it on fire directly using a candle and other flammable elements.

Authorities have identified five people involved in the fight While investigations are underway to determine the exact causes of the attack, it was confirmed that two of the attackers remain low reinforced custody and they must respond to justice for new crimes.
