Police officers who work in Unit 12 of the National Rehabilitation Institute (INR) known as the Cerro Carrancho prison and located in Rivera, they arrested a woman who tried to bring drugs into the prison by hiding it in a piece of meat.
The discovery occurred when police officers were checking on those who entered the prison as visitors. At a certain moment, an official found wrappers with green and yellowish substances inside a piece of cooked meat that a young woman identified as K.LN.L., 18 years old, was carrying in a tupperware. The woman had introduced herself as a visitor from an inmate in Sector C.
When carrying out an expert report on the substances found, the members of the Penitentiary Investigation and Analysis Unit (UIAP) determined that it was 38.3 grams of base paste and 7.2 grams of marijuana.
The agents arrested the young woman, who had to appear before the Justice. After completing the process before the Court of First Instance of the 2nd Turn of Rivera The woman was convicted of a crime of assisting agents of criminal activity. The sentence imposed corresponded to a sentence of 12 months in prison for compliance with probation. As part of her sentence, she will be required to do community service for two hours a week for the first two months of her sentence.
