During the execution of the searches, the director of the Inof, Ahiza Guillermina Maestre Betancourt, was detained and will be prosecuted.

A total of 48 negative leaders were transferred from two women’s prisons and held in a maximum security prison, according to judicial sources.

The transfer operation occurred as a result of extraordinary searches carried out by the Ministry for the Penitentiary Service at the National Institute of Women’s Guidance (Inof) and the Training Center for Female Prosecuted Women “La Crisálida”, both located in Los Teques, Miranda state. .

Through this search carried out last Thursday and Friday, the Penitentiary Ministry determined the existence of mafias that kept the inmate population under submission, as if it were a slavery regime, explained an official. “These negative leaders handled illicit issues: drug trafficking, cell phone rentals, and they did not leave the inmates who wanted to work or study alone,” the source explained.

In the search, the authorities identified 23 negative leaders in La Crisálida and 25 from Inof, who were transferred from those prisons and taken to a maximum security one.

In the midst of these search operations, the director of the Inof Ahiza Guillermina Maestre Betancourt was detained, who will be prosecuted for her alleged involvement in criminal offenses, the source detailed.
