The Secretariat of the Navy-Navy of Mexico (Semar) carried out the first Training for the Attention of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Incidents at the Laguna Verde naval station, Veracruz. Those trained will be part of the 2026 Soccer World Cup Task Force, “with the purpose of providing security and safeguarding the integrity of citizens.”
The institution reported that 34 elements were trained from January 12 to 30 at the Naval Special Operations Unit in Donato Guerra, state of Mexico, as well as a second practical phase at the Laguna Verde Advanced Naval Station.
In this training, the elements developed “the ability to detect, identify, contain and neutralize threats of a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear nature, through the use of appropriate detection equipment, with the objective of having a prompt and efficient reaction to the type of agent in question and thereby carry out the procedures and protocols for the correct neutralization and subsequent decontamination of personnel, based on and adherence to the national and international standards applicable to the subject.”
