The Minister of Government, Roger Tejada, assured that progress is being made in the study of an increase in penalties for those who introduce prohibited objects into prisons.

The statements were made during a work tour of the province of Chiriquí and where he indicated that he asked the Penitentiary System to work on updating the regulations on sanctions within the Penal Code, to increase the sanctions for officials and individuals who facilitate these acts. illicit

The Head of Government recalled that at this time those officials and visitors who carry out these bad practices face slight administrative offenses such as fines of two or four hundred balboas, imposed by a Justice of the Peace or the loss of their job, but not there is a severe sanction, which translates into an incentive for them to continue to be applied.

Likewise, he reiterated that work is being done on the acquisition of the necessary technology to combat that used by crime to try to introduce prohibited objects to the different penal centers in the country.
