Madrid, Spain.- A medical office of the Agüero cast, in Santiago de Cuba, dawned this Sunday without three of its doors, after thieves broke up during the early morning and took the main entrance and two interiors destined for the area of consultation and sterilization. The fact left the health installation completely unprotected, in a context of growing insecurity that hits the province, but also the country.
The complaint was made in the early hours of the morning, but the police did not arrive until after 12 noon, that is, more than nine hours later, said independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta carved in the Facebook social network.
Witnesses pointed out that the agents barely lifted footprints and claimed that “there are no dogs available, because there is only one for bloody cases.”
Despite the seriousness of the fact, no immediate protection was placed in the installation. Only a custodian was moved from a nearby polyclinic and promised to install a door the next day, measure that left the worker exposed to another possible robbery or greater risks during the night.
The event unleashed strong criticism in the community. “That kind of thing does not care, that is, for police chiefs that robbery is not a priority. They only go fast if there are posters,” said user Belén Sagarra. Niurka González questioned the security of the assigned custodian: “But my God, what about the authorities of Santiago de Cuba?

According to a recent report by the Cuban Observatory of Citizen Audit (OCAC), Initiative of the Cuba Century Ideas Laboratory, in the first six months of 2025, 1,319 crimes were registered, a figure that almost quintuplies the reports of the same period of 2023 and exceeds in just half a year the records of all 2024.
According to the study, the average of daily crimes went from 3.6 in 2024 to more than seven in the first half of this year, reflecting what researchers qualify as an “unprecedented criminal diversification”. Theft It was the most frequent crime, with 721 cases.
