2022: 50th anniversary of Banco León
This year is one of celebration and gratitude for Banco BHD León. The entity celebrates 50 years of its foundation as the first mortgage bank in the country and later as the first multiple bank, which supported the transformation of the national financial system to the current model of universal banking. The BHD León celebrates 50 years carrying out its main commitment to society: Promote human progress through responsible, innovative and close banking.
The entity was founded on July 24, 1972, then it was known as Banco Hipotecario Dominicano. For five decades it has been a pioneer in the local financial sector: from being the first mortgage bank and first multiple bank in the Dominican Republic to being a pioneer company in the implementation of a corporate governance model. Its avant-garde vision places it as the national financial entity with the greatest international support. Its policy of alliances, mergers and acquisitions makes it the second private capital financial institution in the country.
