According to police sources, the man decided to visit the Fortaleza del Cerro, for which he went to the place on a bicycle. He had arrived in Montevideo on a cruise. When he was near the Fortress he was approached by two individuals who demanded his belongings. The man did not understand what they were saying, and at that moment one of the criminals shot him in the knee and they fled the scene.
