This is Bolívar Echavarría Almonte, 60, against whom the Court of Permanent Attention of the judicial district of Santiago Rodríguez issued the arrest warrant number 1486-2023-TORD-00015.

Echavarría Almonte was arrested yesterday by preventive agents and criminal investigations (Dicrim) of the National Police, together with members of the Anti Rustler Unit, allegedly for violating several articles of Law 248-12, on Animal Protection.

The owner of the donkeys, Mr. Juan José Álvarez Peralta, had been looking for the missing animals for several days, which apparently crossed over to the farm where they were found dead.

Donkeys are an endangered animal and have long been a symbol of strength and hard work in the Dominican countryside.
