They send pipes with drinking water to residents of Carazo in response to complaints about shortages

In the department of Carazo, many areas have been without a water supply for more than 20 days and no matter how much the population complains, the only response has been to send them pipes.

This Monday, a resident of the Las Palmeras sector who preferred to speak anonymously, stated that they have been without water for almost a month, “days it comes, days it doesn’t”, so together with his family they take turns filling the barrels. “It is a problem that affects us all, I wait for the water until late at night, if it does not come I go to bed and my son gets up at dawn, it is exhausting for the whole family, we have children here,” he complains.

The same situation exists in the La Mascota neighborhood. In some houses there is even a proliferation of flies due to so much dirt due to lack of water.

«Here there are dry sinks, here are the empty barrels, there is no water for cooking, there is no water for the toilet, there is no water to wash the dishes, you can even see the flies as they are, there are more dirty dishes, but it is a shame to show them, In the bathroom we have two other barrels that are empty, it has already been five days without water,” said Mynor García, a resident of the La Mascota neighborhood.

García said that if the lack of water is caused by some pipe repairs, “we ask the authorities of the water carrier to please send us a pipe so that we can prepare our food and clean ourselves.” What is believed is that it is due to a failure in the pumps of the wells of the Nicaraguan Water and Sewerage Company (Enacal) and that until this Thursday it can be overcome.

in the same situation

Other neighborhoods that have been experiencing a similar situation for several days are the María Elena Cuadra neighborhood, Nery Urtecho, the Las Palmeras sector, as well as in other areas of Jinotepe and San Marcos, which has meant that its inhabitants in the midst of cold ice cream at dawn, they have to get up to “sort” if the vital liquid has reached them.

A user of social networks shared an image of a megaphone that says “SOS” and wrote: “gentlemen of Enacal we need water, we have been without water for 10 days.”

García regrets this situation, which since last week has been causing them more problems. “I usually came between 7:00 and 10:00 at night, there was still water until 4:00 in the morning, it was just changing the hoses, because here you can’t have a tank since the water doesn’t rise, that’s why The reason has to be barrels, but now the problem has intensified because if anything the water comes to us, maybe for two hours,” García complains.

The citizen expresses that after this problem, “Russian baths” are made, you cannot wash clothes or clean the house. “Imagine that one gets sick to the stomach. With what water are those baths washed?” García wonders.

“The little water that arrives arrives dirty”

A resident named Belkis reported that she had been vomiting and had diarrhea. “The little water that arrives is coming out dirty and it comes when it wants, but with the receipt they don’t waste time, they can’t stand the dust left by those who disrupted the streets,” she accused. She added that they have had to buy drinking water.

Lucía, a resident of Jinotepe, also complained. «We have always had water problems, but water was provided every day in the morning until 1:00, 2:00 in the afternoon, sometimes until 3:00, then they took it off and put it on at 7: 00 at night, not now, it is not known why, nobody says anything, no authority shows their faces, “he said.

She adds that she lives in the center of the city and last Sunday she was without water all day. «At 9:00 at night the water began to come, at that time I imagine that just like me, most, all the people are cleaning, washing and doing everything that they did not do all day. That should not be so », she laments.

According to Lucía, this does not have days, because she remembers that since June of last year there has been a lack of water. “This has worsened since November, December and to date, but the receipts come the same and there is no water all day. Why so much abuse? “Asked those affected.

Others affected are soft drink vendors and restaurant owners who do not complain for fear that their sales permits will be suspended.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) website indicates that safe and easily accessible water is important for public health, whether it is used for drinking, domestic use, food production or recreational purposes.
