Seven members of cells associated with the Tren del Llano were captured in three municipalities of Guárico state, according to military sources.
In the La Sabana sector, Julián Mellado municipality (El Sombrero), Guárico state, a mixed police-military commission arrested Jean Carlos Naranjo Torres from whom they seized an unmarked 5.56 mm caliber assault rifle, AR-15 model nor visible serial with its respective charger.
The subject was traveling on a motorcycle which was confiscated.
In Santa María de Ipire, in the Mata Negra rural sector, agents from Detachment 343 of the Bolivarian National Guard seized two 12 and 16 gauge shotguns, as well as five cartridges.
The material was transported by two men identified as Frank Alexander Herrera Pacheco, and Franklin Daniel Medina Prado.
And in the Los Tramojos sector, Esteros de Camaguán municipality, on the border of Guárico and Apure, the military seized a 12-gauge shotgun.
Three members of the criminal group Los Grapas, allegedly linked to the criminal organization Tren del Llano and identified as Guillermo Ramón Contreras, José Leonardo Martínez and Richard Ángel Benavides, were arrested in this procedure.
The detainees were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office where files were opened for illegal possession of a firearm, among other crimes.
