In the early hours of this Friday, the Public Health team of the Parque Lefevre Police Center carried out an operation to verify compliance with sanitary regulations at 5 food product distribution locations (chicken, empanadas, among others) in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (Mici), Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel), the Municipality of Panama, the Directorate of Migration, the General Directorate of Income (DGI) and the National Police.
During the operation, the health team seized more than 250 pounds of flour dough prepared in an area that did not comply with adequate sanitary measures, chicken pieces not in the cold chain, food placed in tanks, and containers uncovered on the floor or other areas, among other deficiencies, as indicated by Francisco Reyes, medical director of the Policentro.
“The operation was organized with all the corresponding institutions, because our intention is to protect the health of the population with food that complies with the sanitary preparation measures, what was seized was destroyed on site and removed from the premises to prevent it from being used again. ”.
After this joint work, for Health the pertinent sanctions will be applied and with the report a more severe measure will be requested, which could be the suspension of the operation for violating public health, added Reyes.
Also with the support of the Merited Fire Department and representatives of the Panagas and Tropigas companies, 40 25-pound gas tanks and two 100-pound tanks were removed, which did not comply with the safety regulations established by the entity.
The Health authorities reiterate to businessmen, administrators, managers, merchants and collaborators to comply with all sanitary regulations to avoid monetary sanctions, confiscations, partial or total closures that affect the economy and therefore the health of the entire population.
