In the work of road controls in the department of Tolima, the Transit and Transportation Section managed to seize 1,200 kilos of marijuana in a van. The permanent operations on the roads are oriented to counter drug trafficking and prevent the marketing of hallucinogenic substances.
Colonel Carlos Efrén Fuelagán Cabrera, commander of the Tolima Police Department indicated that “the procedure took place on the Ibagué – Espinal road, at the height of the sector known as Glorieta Payandé, where uniformed officers carried out search and control tasks on vehicles and people as part of the prevention devicein one of the areas of prevention and road safety, prepared for the department of Tolima”.

During the intervention Two private vehicles transporting narcotic substances were intercepted. At the time of the search, packages of marijuana wrapped in plastic bags were found in one of the vehicles.
An additional 170 packages, also packaged in similar wrappers, were found in a second vehicle.
“The capture of two citizens in flagrante delicto was achieved and the seizure of 1,200 kilograms of a plant substance that, in a PIPH approved preliminary test, gave results positive for marijuana, those captured, along with the seized substance, were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for the crime of trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics, so that a judge with guarantee control functions defines their legal situation,” said Fuelagán Cabrera.

In the department of Tolima, more than two tons of narcotics have been seized, representing a hard blow to the structures dedicated to drug trafficking.
