Montevideo Police officers seized drugs and arrested a person during the raid on two houses in the Peñarol neighborhood as part of an investigation into a homicide that occurred in the area.
The operation was carried out by members of Zone III of the capital’s Police Headquarters. The agents raided two houses located on Arturo Despouey and José Bergamín (Peñarol) streets in search of evidence for the murder.gave of a 26-year-old known as the “Keto”. The body of the deceased appeared half-buried in a house next to the houses that were inspected.
During the raid, the authorities arrested a 43-year-old man who was found in a backpack with 20 wrappers of base paste. Inside the backpack there was also a stone of the same substance weighing 22 grams, as well as 806 pesos, among other important objects for the investigation, according to the Communication Unit of the Ministry of the Interior.
The detainee was transferred to the Departmental Anti-drug Brigade and then to the prosecution 1st Shift Narcotics. After completing the judicial process, a sentence was handed down against Andrés Fabián López Silva, holder of seven criminal records. On this occasion, he was found guilty of attempting to supply narcotic substances and he must serve a sentence of three and a half years in effective prison.
