They seize 468 packages of alleged drugs in Colón

Members of the Tactical Unit of Anti-Drug Operations of the National Police and the Public Ministry achieved this Saturday, November 27, the seizure of 468 packages with alleged drugs, during a raid on a sailboat in Portobelo, Colón province.

The merchandise was hidden in 19 bags inside the sailboat in Panamanian Caribbean waters.

The Police indicated that, in this case, two Honduran nationals were detained.

The Colón Drug Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the arrest of both people and said that in the next few hours they will be brought before a Judge of Guarantees.

On the other hand, so far this year, the security forces have seized more than 117 tons of drugs, of these more than 52 have been seized in Colón.
In addition, 472 people have been captured for drug trafficking and 275 have been prosecuted, reported Zone Chief Víctor Méndez.
