Police seized a bag with around 2,000 ecstasy pills in a pension from the Center of Montevideo, where there were members of an organization that trafficked this and other drugs, which obtained at the border with Brazil and brought to the south of the country through interdepartmental bus parcelsreported the Montevideo Police Headquarters in a statement.
After five raids in three departmentsMontevideo, Canelones and Rivera, six people were arrested in Operation “Arquímedes”: four men who operated in Montevideo and two women who worked in Rivera, one of them responsible for assembling the packages for the parcels, as reported by Telemundo (Channel 12).
All those involved are under 27 years of age and are available to the prosecutor Stella Llorentein charge of the case.
The incident came into the hands of the police through a Anonymous complaintwhich accused a criminal organization of traffic “various narcotic substances” that arrived from the border and they were sent in parcels to Montevideo with the objective of distribute them for “consumption at different electronic parties” and also sell them “through social networks”the police reported.
This Thursday the authorities raided three locations in Montevideobetween them a pension on Paysandú street from the Center, a house in progress, cannelloniand another in Ansina street in the city of Rivera.
In total, they seized 2,000 ecstasy pills, 21.5 kilograms of marijuana, several containers and bags with more ecstasy, methamphetamine and one with cocaine, detailed from the capital headquarters. In addition, they also found ten pistol cartridges and $17,150.
