The Joint Declaration was offered in La Puntilla Park, located on the Malecón in Puerto Plata.

At the end of the Summit of Presidents within the framework of the Alliance for Development in Democracy, the Dominican Head of State, Luis Abinader, reported that, on this occasion, one of his main objectives is the development of their respective countries and raise the quality of life of its people.

To achieve this purpose, it seeks to promote joint agreements between the Dominican Republic, Panama and Costa Rica that will also include the involvement of the private sector.

“The businessmen of our three countries have met and have agreed to promote trade and joint agreements, especially those related to cutting-edge technology, pharmaceutical companies and technology,” said Abinader.

To these areas, he added, there are also great alliances in health, commerce, tourism, logistics and the environment, in which Costa Rica and Panama have great development models, said the president.

Abinader also defined democracy, present in the countries of the region, as the necessary system to be able to progress and develop in peace and with quality of life.

Regarding the agreements, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, president of Panama, highlighted the great benefit that the union of these nations means to positively impact the lives of their citizens.

“Three sister governments and the private sector come together to undertake an important task: to create jobs for our people.”

This joint intention to create jobs reinforces one of the main economic goals of the Dominican government chaired by Luis Abinader.

For his part, the President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, assured that this Alliance has proven to be visionary and avant-garde, while demonstrating the choice of these countries to renew democracy and guarantee well-being.

In this sense, he referred to the closing of the democratic summit called by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, in which it was demonstrated once again that this system of government is the option to move forward, protect citizens, generate employment and economic development.

The three leaders also pointed out that another of the points of the agreement is the reconfirmation of the call to the attention of countries such as the United States and the European Union for the pacification of Haiti and a future development plan for the neighboring nation.

As well as paying attention to Nicaragua, “where we have called for the release of its political prisoners,” concluded the president of Costa Rica.

The Joint Declaration was offered in La Puntilla Park, located on the Malecón in Puerto Plata.
