The Ministers of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, and of Education, Roberto Fulcar, defined with the director of the National Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then, the strategies to reinforce security around the schools, which include continuous training of the school agents and the incorporation of the municipal police to these tasks.
Fulcar gave Vásquez the Citizen Chair, to be distributed in the provincial governments and in the detachments.
This plan for the integral formation of the student promotes the culture of peace from the educational centers to turn the student body into a multiplier of values and is based on the “Education for a better life” model.
It includes topics such as driver education, non-discrimination, respect for citizens, against domestic violence, teenage pregnancy and other aspects.
In the meeting in which the director of the School Police, Colonel Eddy Michel Madé Montilla, also participated, Vásquez Martínez explained that the program discussed includes the reintegration into the curriculum of moral and civic subjects and sessions on citizen coexistence, as a mechanism to counteract the societal violence.
He argued that in terms of security all institutions must go hand in hand, so it is necessary to address the issue in all scenarios and especially in schools.
Meanwhile, Fulcar showed his support for the Ministry of the Interior and Police and considered that the role of that entity should be supported by all State institutions.
“You can’t do it alone. That is not a small thing, because every act of violence or crime has multiple factors at its root that cause it and that is why everyone has to cooperate,” he said.
He explained that the Citizen Chairs contribute to the strengthening of identity and healthy national pride, the cultivation of appreciation and enjoyment of scientific, patrimonial and universal culture, to form civic citizens, respectful of norms, “governed by the most high values that the heroes and patriots have bequeathed”.
The activity was attended by the Minerd Julissa Hernández, Vice Minister of Planning and Gilberto Sánchez Parra, legal and Interior and Police consultant, the Vice Minister of Preventive Security in Provincial Governments, Ángela Jáquez and the legal consultant, Ramón Enrique Amparo Paulino
