Nora Ruvalcaba: the eternal candidate of the left
Nora Ruvalcaba Gámez, Morena’s candidate for governor, is the best-known leftist politician in Aguascalientes. From the hand of the PRD, between 1998 and 2010 she was councilor of the Capital Municipality and local deputy, in addition to having held various positions within that party as president of the Municipal Committee, general secretary of the State Steering Committee and from 2008 to 2010, national councilor .
In the field of the Aguascalientes left, Ruvalcaba Gámez has been the woman with the most appearances on the electoral ballot, but has never won an election. From 1992 to 2016, she competed for the positions of municipal president of Pabellón de Arteaga, twice for local deputy, twice for federal deputy and twice for senator.
This election is his third attempt to reach the governorship, the first time was in 2010 and the second in 2016. In both he stayed far from the electoral preferences.
In 2011, Ruvalcaba became one of the founders of Morena’s party. From 2011 to 2015 she was state president of that party and in 2019 she operated from the Institute to Return the Stolen to the People as regional coordinator in Baja California. Two years later, in 2021, she became head of the Welfare Secretary in the state, a position in which she remained for a few months before obtaining the candidacy for governor.
At the end of 2021, when Mario Delgado, national president of Morena, announced the names of the profiles for the six governorships that are at stake in this election, he made it clear that Ruvalcaba Gámez was not favored in the polls applied to the militants, but he was chosen according to the parity rule.
Considering herself a historical leftist, the candidacy of the morenista made it possible to reduce the divisions within the party in Aguascalientes, whose groups accuse the imposition of people close to the PRI for positions of popular election.
Nora Ruvalcaba is also known for her work in the educational field. Graduated in Secondary Education with a specialty in Social Sciences from the Escuela Normal Superior de Aguascalientes and a graduate in Law from the Autonomous University (UAA), the brunette has assured that she has the support of the local teachers, one of the largest and most disputed electoral sectors in the state.
