The Government of Mexico has the objective of integrating more people into the financial sector, and to achieve it, from next year, it will seek to incorporate the population over 15 years old already all the beneficiaries of social programs, indicates the project of budget for expenditures of the Federation by 2026.
The initiative indicates that the Government currently seeks to guarantee the rights of access to formal financial services for the entire population, as well as minimize the dependence of the use of cash in the dispersion of social support, and promote the habit of savings, through safe and accessible mechanisms.
“These elements contribute not only to individual and family stability, but also to solid and sustainable economic growth throughout the national territory,” the document considers.
The Bank of Welfare, an institution for which a item of 149 thousand 873 million pesos is requested, “plays a fundamental role as an institution in charge of operating financial inclusion, which seeks to serve in priority to historically excluded groups of the financial system, such as women, older adults, indigenous population, people with disabilities and inhabitants of rural areas”.
By 2026 it is expected to contribute to consolidate the financial inclusion of the sectors traditionally excluded through the efficient dispersion of social programs and the linking of the population benefiting with bank accounts, in order to promote progressive, safe and recurring access to financial services, he details.
