The former president of the Chamber of Deputies and leader of the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP), Rubén Maldonado, described this morning as very serious and alarming that national security is in the hands of a person like José Ángel Gómez Canaán (Jochy Gómez), who In the recent past he has been linked to several scandals.
He said that we must find out which is the powerful hand that sponsors Gómez Canaán, who has been accused and investigated for allegedly being involved in hacking personalities.
Jochy Gómez is also one of the owners of Transcore Latam, the company that operated the traffic light network and was accused of sabotaging them.
He criticized that the Government is handing over not only national security in the hands of individuals, but also the State’s persecution bodies, “because those same institutions have internal investigation departments, to a person who can at a given moment use it for blackmail, intimidation as some representatives of the Dominican Republic have done on other occasions.”
“Evidently, this character is closely linked to many things in the Government, now the obligatory question is, what is the protective hand, who has served as godfather for a person who has evidently been involved in several scandals in the country with institutions that has formed, has so much power to do so,” he said. Maldonado.
He added that “that is the obligatory question that we Dominicans have to ask ourselves, but we have not yet been able to unravel the Intrant issue because there is still no one prosecuted in court and something is already appearing now that we already knew because we had knowledge, including the National security largely rested in the hands of those individuals who move in those companies of that nature.”
He called on the Attorney General’s Office to deeply investigate what happened in Intrant with the issue of traffic lights and Gómez Canaán’s contract with the Ministry of Defense.
“We call on the Attorney General’s Office to put its eyes on these companies that are dedicating themselves to participating in an issue as delicate and sensitive as national security,” he said.
He recalled that in the past, Gómez Canaán was detained and investigated when he was accused of hacking and blackmail, “a series of accusations that appeared in the media, and that today he appears with contracts in the State, not only in what he has to do. do with the citizens and citizens in the main arteries of the country, which is the capital, as is the case of Intrant, but also in the Ministry of the Armed Forces, which is supposed to be where the information that has to do with the national security”.

Maldonado regretted that the importance of the revelations about the contracts that the State has with Mr. Gómez is not being given.
Gómez Canaán (Jochi Gómez), one of the owners of the company Transcore Latam, which operated the traffic light network, revealed that it also has agreements with the Ministry of Defense to supply technology related to national security.
According to Gómez, his is the only private contract that the Ministry of Defense has for national security.
“The technology we use is Aurix Threat Intelligence, it has an intelligence agency attached to the Ministry of Defense, it is the only private contract of the Ministry of Defense for national security,” he explained.
He said that the contract was signed in this Government four years ago and announced that “they will probably cancel it this week.”
