In an effort to boost sports and promote panela consumption nationwide, Fedepanela and the Colombian Paralympic Committee have established a strategic alliance that promises to generate a significant impact in both sectors.

The alliance aims to highlight and strengthen the crucial role played by both panela producers and Paralympic athletes in Colombia.
With an eye on the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which will take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024, this alliance comes at a crucial time to strengthen support for our athletes.

“We want to highlight the value and importance of our producers and athletes, who with their effort and dedication have raised the name of Colombia. We are convinced that this union will be a crucial step for the promotion of panela and Paralympic sport in our country.”said Carlos Fernando Mayorga, General Manager of Fedepanela.
For his part, Julio Cesar Avila Sarria said: “This collaboration will allow us to strengthen the foundations of our Paralympic athletes, while promoting a product as representative as panela, which is part of our cultural and food identity.”.

The alliance between Fedepanela and the Colombian Paralympic Committee marks a milestone in the visibility and strengthening of these two key sectors for the development of the country. Both entities will work together to carry out activities and campaigns that promote panela consumption and support for Paralympic sports, with a special focus on inclusion and recognition of indigenous values.
In this edition of the Paralympic Games, Colombia will have 78 participating athletes (47 men and 31 women) in 10 different sporting events.. In addition, the tricolor delegation will participate for the first time in: Blind football, Para sports shooting and Para triathlon. Other sports in which they compete are: Boccia, Para athletics, Para swimming, Para powerlifting, Para archery, Para cycling and wheelchair tennis.
