Congressman Julio Elías Vidal announced significant news for users of telecommunications services in Colombia: the reconnection costs for mobile telephony, fixed, internet and television could lower considerably in the coming months. The measure is part of Law 2485 of 2025, of which Elías Vidal is author and speaker, and seeks to guarantee more just and accessible conditions for all Colombians.

According to the legislator, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) is reviewing the new rate setting process, and technical studies suggest that the cost could be established in less than 1,000 pesos. “This would mean savings of almost 450 billion pesos for users”said the congressman, highlighting the positive impact that this reduction in the economy of households would have.
Currently, reconnection rates represent an additional load for consumers, especially for those with low income. In many cases, current values exceed 10,000 pesoswhich hinders the restitution of the service when a suspension for lack of payment occurs.
Elías Vidal emphasized that the new regulation not only seeks to relieve the pocket of Colombians, but also to establish more transparent, proportional and non -discriminatory practices by service providers. “We want to guarantee that user rights are respected and that access to telecommunications is not a privilege, but an equitable right,” he said.
In the next few days, telecommunications companies must present their observations before the CRC, which will serve as the basis to define the final rate. This process of consultation will allow to balance the interests of the users with the sustainability of the sector, according to the congressman.
Finally, Julio Elías Vidal reiterated his commitment to the defense of consumers and the strengthening of regulation in public services. “We will continue to promote laws that generate well -being, equity and development for all Colombians,” he concluded, highlighting that this initiative represents a more step towards a country with more fair and accessible services.
