The attack occurred on 10th Street and 16th Street, in the heart of Armenia. As recorded in a security video, a hitman approached the journalist and, without saying a word, shot him on a public street. Gómez Agudelo was left lying on the ground, while passers-by and co-workers came to the scene after hearing the shots. The attacker quickly fled the scene.
Óscar Gómez Agudelo was recognized in the Eje Cafetero region not only for his work as a journalist, but also for his civic leadership.
