He Russian media outlet RT reported that close sources revealed that the US intelligence services are working to recruit Venezuelans in Ecuador with the aim of using them in destabilizing operations against the country.
The note details that the search for candidates is carried out through social networks and with the participation of local helpers, and a cafe in Quito serves as a recruitment point. In particular, a coordinator supposedly nicknamed Alejandro Rojas Colim is mentioned, a name that would be inspired by that of a video game character.
According to informants, potential candidates are interviewed to discuss tasks, travel routes to Venezuela, as well as fees and payment procedures. Those recruited are equipped in the territory of Colombia.
Previously, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, assured that the overthrow attempts orchestrated by the United States (USA) and “the fascist right” have always resulted in failures and that “they have already exhausted the manual of conspiracies.”
To argue his point, the president listed the warlike and interventionist actions that the US authorities have undertaken in countries such as Iraq, Libya or Ukraine, as well as the frustrated attempts by the far-right wing of the Venezuelan opposition to replicate those tragic events in the South American country.
“When in 2014 the Nazi groups carried out the coup in Ukraine, in kyiv, and murdered dozens of innocent people and the Nazis who govern Ukraine and have been defeated by the president seized power [Vladímir] Putin and the Russian people also said: ‘The time has come, now it’s Venezuela’s turn.’ We already know the story: our people, with the Constitution in hand, defeated the guarimbas and the attempt to lead our beloved Venezuela to a civil war,” RT quoted.
