They reveal a letter where Marco Rubio threw the straw to Venezuelan migration

Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State and who presented himself as a defender of Venezuelan migration, was the one who recommended eliminating the temporary protection status (TPS) for the nationals.

The change of opinion was reflected in a letter that referred last January to the Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem. “Appointing Venezuela under the TPS does not defend the fundamental interests of the United States or prioritize its citizens. Therefore, it is contrary to the foreign policy and national interest of the United States,” wrote the senior official.

In another paragraph of the letter made public, Rubio announces that the State Department “will not carry out any activity that facilitates or foster mass migration.”

Rubio’s communication transcended because she was used by the Government of Donald Trump, to appeal a sentence that suspended the elimination of TPS, a mechanism that affects 117,000 Venezuelans residing in the US.

American media qualify the letter as “a radical change for Rubio, who for years supported the TPS for Venezuelans, even when he was a US senator during the Biden administration.”

Trump seeks to reverse the decision of federal judge Edward Chen, from San Francisco, who on March 31 – just two months after Rubio’s letter to Noem – blocked the government order to withdraw that program that protects his beneficiaries from being deported.

The media recalled that in 2019 the current Secretary of State was the only Republican who sponsored a TPS law for the citizens of Venezuela and two years later, when they were finally included in this program by Biden, Rubio celebrated it.
