They resumed activities

The first session of the year was held at the Departmental Board

After the summer recess, the Departmental Legislature resumed activity at the Plenary level.

It should be remembered that work in Committees had restarted last Monday, February 2.

During the Previous Half Hour, the Mayor of the National Party Washington Costa requested reports from the Municipality of Cerro Largo on the capacity of the vehicles for the payment of the license plate, an issue that generated controversy with SUCIVE at the beginning of the year.

The Frenteamplista Geener Amaral presented detailed information on air quality measurements in the city of Río Branco, defining the results as worrying.

Dr. Rafael Rodríguez of the National Party requested reports from the Ministry of Environment on the situation at the La Pedrera Municipal Landfill.

Eliana Díaz of the Frente Amplio made two requests for reports to the Municipality, the first referred to the Cerro Largo Student Home in Montevideo and the second linked to the Health Care Programs that, from the General Secretariat, with Graciela Echenique at the helm, were promoted during the previous period in specialties such as vision, gynecology and mental health.

The nationalist Hugo Desplasts highlighted aspects linked to the 1st Edition of the Inclusion Marathon that will be run on May 1.

Professor Tania González from the National Party Bench recalled the 210 years of the department of Cerro Largo that were completed on February 3.

Luis Coronel of the National Party highlighted aspects related to the Day Center that operates in the Long Stay Home of the Association for the Integration of the Elderly of Cerro Largo (AIAMCEL).

Architect Pablo Guarino, Mayor of the Frente Amplio Bench, raised a situation that is being generated with the displacement of sewage in the Altos de Moliterno neighborhood.

Teacher Mónica Peña, also from the Frente Amplio, made a request for reports to the Municipality for the Cerro Largo Student Home in Montevideo.

Finally, the Frente Amplista Ignacio Rodríguez raised the need to hold a tribute session to former cyclist Osvaldo Píriz, an issue that was passed on to the Tourism, Sports and Youth Commission. This initiative was previously discussed with the Mayor of the National Party Carlos Silva.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

A report from the Legislation Commission regarding a complaint made by the Frente Amplio last year related to a municipal official generated an extensive debate.

Councilors from the ruling party and the opposition spoke about a report from the Court of Accounts of the Republic dated December 29, 2025.

It or the definitive Reports of the Legislation Commission will surely be known when the resolution of the Transparency and Public Ethics Board arrives.
