The staff of the National Forest and Wildlife Service (Serfor) rescued and released a baby guanaco who wandered through the old road from Arequipa to Cerro Verde.
The newborn animal was vulnerable and even wore the umbilical cordTherefore, thanks to the support of the mining company Cerro Verde and the staff of the Serfor Environment area, rescued the mammal.
After locating a group of guanacos, their release was arranged, but before they were given a treatment that basically consisted of cleaning and removal of the umbilical cord, in a nearby wallow.
The guanaco breeds met with his peers so that it continues with its route, because the distance would have caused the little animal to remain in captivity and probably die.
