They request support from the Ministry of Women to avoid the assumption of a deputy

Members of the feminist movement of Santiago del Estero requested the accompaniment of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity of the Nation (MMGyD) in their claims to prevent the assumption as provincial deputy of Héctor Eduardo Ruiz, convicted of crimes of sexual abuse against women.

Ruiz, which turned out elected by the Labor Patriotic Front list in the elections on November 14, it was convicted of various crimes of sexual abuse while serving as Mayor of La Banda and there is currently a court case in progress.

The meeting of feminist representatives with MMGyD officials was held at the headquarters of the National University of Santiago del Estero, with the presence of Romina Chiesa, national director of Protection of Victims of Gender-Based Violence; Florencia Sotelo, national director of Strengthening Access to Justice in Cases of Violence for Gender Reasons; Martha Linares, national director of Comprehensive Assistance to Victims of Gender-Based Violence and Mariana Seghezzo, director of Special Programs.

“Whoever has committed sexual abuse cannot be part of a body that represents our province, nor can they be part of the decision-making that marks the course of politics and ultimately the destiny of our lives,” the organizations expressed in a statement.

This Friday representatives of feminist organizations from Santiago will travel to the City of Buenos Aires to meet with the minister of Women, Gender and Diversity, Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta.
