Judge José Carlos Arias, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of San Cristóbal, scheduled for this Thursday, May 5, the hearing of the coercive measure against a man whom the Public Ministry accuses of incurring in an attempt to murder and acts of torture and barbarism against his partner.
According to the indictment, Leonard Martinez Solissubjected the victim to various acts of physical violence and forced her to ingest the mixture of corrosive substances known as the devil’s acid.

Regarding the knowledge of the measure, the prosecutor José Guerrero indicated that on two occasions the defendant’s defense has requested the postponement, to know the file and prepare budgets.
About the case
A press release issued by the Public ministry indicates that the Unit for Attention to Gender, Intrafamily Violence and Sexual Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of this jurisdiction requests the imposition of three months of preventive detention, a measure of coercion established in article 226 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The request instance highlights that Martínez Solís was arrested when he showed up at a clinic in Santo Domingo accompanying the victimwho has serious injuries.
It was before the medical staff that the woman reported that the physical damage was caused by her partner, who claimed to have found her in that state.
The incident occurred in the area Low of Hainaon April 25 at the home of both.
In this case, the persecuting body has granted the legal classification of violation to articles 309-2, 309-3, literals B, C, E and F of Law 24-97; 303, 303-2, 303-4 and 331 of the Dominican Penal Codeconsisting of acts of torture and barbarism, domestic violence aggravated by bodily harm, carrying a weapon, threat and restriction of freedom.
