This Saturday, January 25, the arrest of Nervis Sarcos, mayor of the Colón municipality of Zulia state, was reported. Nicolás Maduro’s administration has not confirmed the information.
It was also unofficially known that Jhon Urdaneta, prosecutor 16 of Santa Bárbara, was also detained. So far, there are no further details about the reasons behind these arrests.
The information was disseminated by various local sources, but no official statements have yet been issued explaining the reasons for the arrests. The community waits more information about this case.
Sarcos won the aforementioned mayoralty with the Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) card.

On Friday, January 24, the mayor and his driver were reported missing. Both were at the La Chinita international airport, in Maracaibo, waiting for the arrival of Sarcos’ wife and son, who were returning from Caracas after medical treatment.
Sarcos would be the third mayor of the state of Zulia arrested in recent months. Previously, on October 1, 2024, Rafael Ramírez, mayor of Maracaibo, was arrested; and on December 11 of the same year, the same thing happened with Nabil Maalouf, mayor of Cabimas.
