During this afternoon a fire was reported at the Barros Luco Trudeau Hospital, located in the commune of San Miguel, Metropolitan region.
Specifically, the flames affect the old maternity sector of the hospital, located between Gran Avenida José Miguel Carrera and Gambetta, according to the Fire Department.
As stated Radio Bio Bio, the column of smoke is visible in different parts of the city, in addition to hearing multiple explosions.
South Metropolitan Firefighters with their second battalion proceeded to fight the flames in the structure of the building to prevent it from spreading to other sectors.
