They report a collapse in the chimney of the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant

On the afternoon of this Friday, the collapse of a partition occurred in the area of ​​the chimney of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plantin Matanzas, which is stopped for maintenance.

As a consequence, four workers were trapped, of which two have already been rescued alive at the time of this report, while specialized forces are working to rescue the other two, according to official media.

refers Yurmuri TV that the men were working in the lower part of the chimney, in the area known as the ashtray, where they extracted soot and carried out other cleaning tasks when around 2:30 PM the partition, a wall seven meters high, collapsed.

The injured workers belong to the Company Specialized in Repair and Maintenance of Chimneys and works at height of the Ministry of Construction, adds information.

According to journalist José Miguel Solís, the main authorities of Matanzas and the Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O, along with firefighters, rescuers and medical personnel, are at the site of the accident.

Other workers who worked at the thermoelectric plant also remain at the scene, awaiting the rescue of their colleagues, whose search continues.

In accordance with Yurmuri TV The two rescued workers were taken to the Faustino Pérez Provincial Hospital in Matanzas.
