The mayor of the Panamericano municipality, Yonathan Rangel, reported the damage from the rains. There is no water service due to the collapse of the dam, there are 85 houses flooded and roads closed due to sediment
The rains registered since Thursday, April 6, in the northern part of the state of Táchira left as a consequence the collapse of the entrance roads to villages, 85 houses flooded and the destruction of the catchment dam, reported the mayor of the Pan-American municipality, Yonathan Rangel.
The overflow of the La Arenosa river, in the El Esfuerzo sector, flooded the village. Through images released by the mayor, houses, businesses and streets with water were observed. Throughout the municipality they are without piped water service due to the collapse of the dam where the catchment is carried out.
“The village of Mesa de La Blanquita is totally cut off because a ravine came up and blocked the road. It cannot be opened manually because it is quite wide. The community has a machine but they need diesel. In the Los Caños sector, the rivers are eating up part of the edge of the road. For this, a machine is needed that we do not have”, explained Rangel.
The Umuquena and La Palmita rivers also overflowed on the Pan-American highway. Similarly, the Carira River, between La Fría and Umuquena, overflowed.
The rain in the San Judas Tadeo municipality, also in the northern area of Táchira, left the residents of the Las Talas village incommunicado. The Municipal Council and the mayor’s office published on their social networks the complaint about the loss of three machines during the management of the previous authorities.
