A total of 789 cases of dengue throughout the country have been reported through the latest epidemiological report from the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
The document breaks down 692 cases without warning signs; 93 with warning signs; 4 cases of severe dengue and no deaths have been registered.
According to the Minsa, the regions with the most positive cases are: the Metropolitan Health Region with 166 positive cases; Colon with 132 cases; San Miguelito with 98 cases; North Panama with 89 cases; West Panama with 84 cases; Bocas del Toro with 55 cases; Herrera with 53 cases and Los Santos with 46 cases.
They reiterate to maintain their homes and work environment, check the meshes on the doors, windows and see under the sinks, since they are places where there may be breeding grounds and it is important to eliminate them.
Hantavirus.
The epidemiological report, provided by the Minsa Epidemiology team, reiterates that so far in 2023, eight (8) cases of Hantavirus Disease have been reported (7 alive and 1 registered death in the province of Herrera).
Of which, six (6) were diagnosed with Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome and one (1) with Hantavirus Fever.
The registered cases are the provinces of Herrera with 4 cases (one death); Los Santos and Coclé with two cases, in each region.
The Minsa reiterates to people that they keep their home and their environment clean, and also the grains collected (such as rice and corn), store and seal them to prevent the rodent from having contact and leaving their feces and urine in the surroundings .
Leishmaniasis, Chikunguya and Zika
Regarding the cases of Leishmanianis, 210 cases have been confirmed, of which there are 13 active cases, with three (3) confirmed cases in West Panama; with two (2) cases in the regions of Bocas del Toro, Veraguas and in the Kuna Yala and Ngäbe Buglé regions, in each of these regions. And with one case, to date, the Coclé and Colón Health regions.
One (1) case of Chikungunya remains in the North Panama area (Alcalde Díaz sector). No case of Zika has been registered in the country.
Malaria
Regarding malaria cases, 1,915 cases of malaria have been confirmed, with the Guna Yala region having 788 cases, Darién with 571, the Ngäbe Buglé region with 351 cases and Panama Este with 102 cases, the sectors with the most confirmed cases, the date.
The Minsa continues to reinforce, to mitigate the cases of Malaria in the country, reinforcing the strategy of promotion and prevention of malaria in these areas, distributing mosquito nets with chemicals and likewise, it is reinforcing the operational capacity and the supply of medicines against this disease across the country.
