Santo Domingo.-The Ministry of Public Health reported this Saturday, 21 new cases of people affected by covid-19, a figure that brings active cases of the virus in the national territory to 273.
In the last 24 hours, no person has died from covid-19 and the number of deaths has remained at 4,384 since the pandemic affected the national territory, in March 2020.
In said period, the authorities processed 1,239 samples to detect the disease, of which 810 were taken for the first time and 429 were subsequent. Of the samples, 973 were antigenic and 266 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).
Bulletin 1,052 issued by the Public Health Epidemiology Directorate indicates that the level of positivity for the pandemic is 2.59% and that of the 2,373 beds available for those affected, only 2 are occupied, for 0.1% occupancy.
None of the 585 available beds in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) is occupied. Neither are any of the 469 ventilators available to the hospital authorities for patients who require assisted breathing.
However, Public Health advises the population to continue to observe the recommended precautionary measures against this disease, especially the human groups with the highest chances of contracting the disease, such as health workers, pregnant women, those under 20 years of age. of age, hypertensive people and diabetics.
Public Health reported that 24.6% of the people who died from covid were hypertensive and 15.90% suffered from diabetes as a comorbidity.
