They repatriate the body of a Nicaraguan who died in a traffic accident in Mexico

The body of the young Nicaraguan Derbin Xavier Jiménez Valladares, who died in a traffic accident in San Juan Chamula, Mexico, on his way to the United States, managed to be repatriated by his relatives in collaboration with organizations. To transfer the mortal remains of the citizen, they had to pay 3,500 dollars from Tapachula to Nicaragua.

The Texas Nicaraguan Community reported that this June 24 at nine in the morning, Jiménez’s body arrived on an Avianca airline flight. “In his accompaniment of this repatriation, it was thanks to the collaboration of volunteers from the Texas Nicaraguan Community and Nicaraguans in Mexico, assisting his family in legal advice in Nicaragua and procedures and procedures in Mexico,” the entity detailed through its social networks.

“The cost of repatriation was $3,500 from Tapachula Mexico to Nicaragua. His family paid the funeral home directly. We extend our condolences to the entire Jiménez Valladares family,” Nicaraguans expressed in the North American country.

Jiménez, who was originally from Macuelizo, Nueva Segovia; He died on May 21, where three other people, whose identities are unknown, also lost their lives.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported on May 22 that it is carrying out investigations “against who or who is responsible for the crime of manslaughter in traffic events, after the accident in which four people lost their lives, apparently migrants”.

The FGE also stated in its brief that 16 other people were injured in the same accident in the municipality of San Juan Chamula. Derbin Xavier Jiménez joins the list of dozens of Nicaraguans who have lost their lives in search of better life opportunities. Most of the deaths have occurred while trying to cross the Rio Grande or in traffic accidents.

One of the last deaths of a Nicaraguan trying to reach the United States was that of radio host Calixto Rojas Bordas, drowned on May 1 in the Rio Grande. His body was repatriated to Nicaragua where it was given a Christian burial.

In just 15 months, from January 2021 to the beginning of March of this year, at least 112,555 Nicaraguan migrants have been caught trying to cross irregularly into the United States.
