At 5:00 am this Monday, January 13, the border crossing between Colombia and Venezuela was reopened, after 72 hours of closure due to the possession of Nicolás Maduro, last Friday.

Last week, the Venezuelan government closed the border crossings with Colombia after denouncing a “international conspiracy” a few hours after Maduro was sworn in for a third consecutive term amid allegations of fraud by the opposition.

“We have information of an international conspiracy to disturb the peace of Venezuelans (…) We are going to order, on instructions from President Nicolás Maduro, the closure of the border with Colombia from 05:00 am today ( Friday), until 05:00 in the morning on Monday”announced last Friday the governor of the state of Táchira, bordering Colombia, Freddy Bernal.

Likewise, the suspension of commercial flights between Colombia and Venezuela was lifted this Monday, a measure that was also established on Friday for a period of 72 hours.
