Staff from the Subdirectorate of Public Spaces of the Mayor’s Office arrived at the Barrio Lindo Fair to clear all public spaces that had been taken over by merchants. This is a public complaint by Councilor Manuel Saavedra last Saturday.

Metallic structures, stalls selling wood and tin, mesh and even bars with padlocks had been placed on the sidewalk of the commercial centers that make up the Barrio Lindo Fair.

Councilor Saavedra made a public complaint through social networks, in which he even showed a security guard padlocking one of the bars.

That is why, this Sunday, officials from the Municipal Government’s Sub-directorate of Public Spaces and some 200 gendarmes went to the place to clear it.

“We are recovering the sidewalks. We intervene in the entire fair. Laws are not negotiated, that is why the Mayor’s Office is putting order,” The officials remarked, in time to clarify that prior to this work, the vendors had already been notified.

What’s more, a local merchant applauded the measure, since it was already impossible to travel through the area, the metallic structures obstructed the passage.
